simply explained

I’ve recently had the opportunity to learn more about a lot of the peripheral people in my life. You know – the people who are around all the time, but that you’ve not had the occasion to get to know (that, of course, being the polite way to describe the people that you’ve never bothered to take the time to get to know). I’ve discovered that these people are amazing – incredibly thoughtful, adventurous, honest…with so much to share. They are a lot of things I know I’m not, but there are some similarities: life experiences, passions, struggles, desires, fears.

And now they’ve put themselves out there – trusting me with the knowledge of who they are.

All of that, to simply explain this: I learned all these treasures about the people surrounding me in life and it’s been thru their blogs…

…and so I’ve been inspired.

I’m not making any promises. I wouldn’t consider myself good with words, numbers – yes, words – not so much. So no guarantees on educated vocabulary, captivating stories, or even regular entries. And I certainly can’t say that the things that I write will live up to that which has inspired me. But, I will be honest, thoughtful, and maybe even a little witty at times.

And I’ll trust you, each time I write, with a little more knowledge of who I am.

So here’s to the beginning of an adventure, filled with dangers, unknowns, rewards, risks, triumphs and failures, for both you and me. Are you ready to really learn more about the people around you? Am I ready to be known? A man more insightful that myself once wrote, “If loving other people is a bit of heaven then certainly isolation is a bit of hell, and to that degree, here on earth, we decide in which state we would like to live."

I’m changing my decision; taking the chance.

Thanks for the post, thewho? If you like the quote you should check out the book - Blue Like Jazz (by Donald Miller).

I also highly recommend Blue Like Jazz. But careful -- it contains descriptions of drinking and smoking and talking to people who are sinners, all of which can make you a bad christian.

:-D
